Super Eagles Coach Jose Peseiro Expresses Ambition to Coach Benfica

 

Portuguese national football team coach, Jose Peseiro, has revealed his desire to coach the prestigious Portuguese club, Benfica. Peseiro, 63, has a rich coaching history in Portugal, having managed top clubs such as FC Porto, Braga, Vitoria Guimaraes, and Sporting Lisbon. 

Currently leading the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, Peseiro is set to guide them in the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire. Despite being under pressure to secure victory in the competition or face termination, Peseiro expressed his ambition for the Benfica coaching position. 

While acknowledging the challenge, he emphasized that anything can happen in football, describing it as an ambition and dream. Peseiro, who has coached four of the top five Portuguese clubs, sees Benfica as the missing piece in his coaching career.

 However, he remains cautious and acknowledges the complexities involved, praising the clarity provided by Benfica's president, Rui Costa, amid recent upheavals in the club.
