See routes motorists can ply as President Buhari visits Lagos

Lagos State is expected to host President Buhari as he visits the state to commission some projects.

President Buhari is expected to commission the newly built International terminal of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos. Which is one of five being built in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, and Enugu.

 He is also expected to commission the Dangote Fertiliser plant.

 

This visit would mean there would be some diversion of traffic as announced by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde.

The commissioner has also provided alternative routes for motorists.

Oladeinde stated that motorists from Apapa/Oshodi would be able to ply Agege Motor Road to link PWD connecting Works Road or General Adeyinka Adebayo Road to access Oba Akinjobi inward Ikeja General Hospital and then connect Local Airport through the underpass.

 

Motorists on Agege Motor Road were also advised to link Charity by the Armed Resettlement Centre on the service lanes and make a U-turn at Cappa/Bolade axis inwards Shogunle to access PWD to continue their journey.

He also stated that Maryland/Mobolaji Bank Anthony would be open to motorists to link the Local Airport and access Muritala Muhammed Airport.

The Commissioner added that motorists can go through the Third Mainland Bridge inwards Gbagada to connect Ikorodu/Maryland to reach the Airports as an alternate route.

 

People would be trekking from Lagos to Ibadan if I hadn't intervened - Buhari

 

President of The Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has claimed that without his intervention, Nigerians would have still been trekking from Lagos to Ibadan.

The President while speaking on Tuesday, February 22 at the presidential villa while receiving a delegation from Kaduna state, said that by making infrastructure projects his priority, particularly the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and rail line, he has helped reduce hardship

Buhari said; 

“My objective was very clear, despite the dwindling resources, I wanted to deal with infrastructure across the country.

We should look at advancement in terms of Infrastructure. No country can advance without infrastructure.

“The people from south-west can tell better because between Lagos and Ibadan by now, if we hadn’t done what we did, people would have been trekking because the road was not there, the rail was not there and there was so much insecurity.

“But we thank the international community. We thank China and Chinese investors, who came along to support the Lagos-Ibadan transport projects.”
