In a heartfelt letter from his prison cell, former Brazilian footballer Dani Alves begged for forgiveness from his ex-wife, Joana Sanz, for his actions. The letter, revealed in a now-deleted Instagram post, expressed Alves' gratitude for Joana's resilience during his troubling times.
Alves, 40, was convicted of assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022. He received a four-and-a-half-year imprisonment term on February 22. In the letter, Alves expressed his deep love for Joana, saying, "I didn't have the wrong woman, yes, it was you."
Despite the public nature of the post, Joana attributed it to a mistake intended solely for her close friends. Alves, who was also ordered to compensate the victim with £130,000 (150,000 euros), could potentially be released as early as July 20, having served a third of his term, according to Spanish media sources.
