Dortmund Manager Edin Terzic Blames Lack of Consistency for Defeat

Borussia Dortmund's manager Edin Terzic expressed disappointment in his team's lack of consistency following their 3-0 defeat against Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga. Terzic stated that Mainz deserved the win as Dortmund failed to match their intensity and lost out in key moments of the game.

Mainz's Lee Jae-Sung scored a brace after Leandro Barreiro opened the scoring to secure a crucial win for Mainz in their battle against relegation. Despite the defeat, Dortmund's fifth position guarantees their participation in the Champions League next season.

Terzic emphasized the need for his team to maintain their intensity levels, especially after their recent 2-0 aggregate win over Paris St Germain in the Champions League semifinals. He expressed frustration at Dortmund's inability to consistently translate their potential into performance, regardless of the opponent or competition.

Dortmund now sit four points behind fourth-place RB Leipzig, with one game remaining in the season. Meanwhile, Mainz's victory lifts them out of the relegation zone, leaving Union Berlin in a precarious position.

Union Berlin squandered a 2-0 lead against Cologne, losing 3-2, which keeps Cologne's hopes of avoiding relegation alive. Cologne needs to win their final game and hope for results to go their way to secure a relegation play-off place.

The Bundesliga season concludes with Dortmund hosting bottom side Darmstadt 98, while Union Berlin faces a tough test against Freiburg.
