Game of Thrones Actor Joseph Gatt Faces Charges for Online Sexual Contact with Minor

Game of Thrones actor Joseph Gatt faced charges in court for engaging in sexually explicit online contact with a minor. The 51-year-old British actor, accompanied by his long-time girlfriend Mercy Malick, appeared in downtown LA on December 4.

LA Superior Court Judge Kim Nguyen scheduled a preliminary hearing for December 18, during which prosecutors are expected to present internet evidence allegedly discovered at Gatt's LA residence.

Despite being on $5,000 bail, Gatt is obligated to adhere to court orders, including avoiding unsupervised interactions with minors, refraining from possessing pornography, and limiting social media usage to work-related purposes.

Following Monday's hearing, Gatt refrained from commenting, citing advice from his attorney. He was arrested in April 2022 in Los Angeles, with police from the Juvenile Division, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executing a search warrant at his home.

Gatt faces charges of 'contact with a minor for sexual offense' and felony possession of an assault weapon, to which he pleaded not guilty. A week after his arrest, Gatt took to Twitter to vehemently deny the charges, expressing cooperation with the LAPD in resolving the matter.

Gatt's high-profile role as Thenn Warg in Game of Thrones involved a tribe known for ritual self-scarring and cannibalism. Despite appearing in several episodes of season four in 2014, his character met his demise in the Battle of Castle Black. Both Gatt and his girlfriend, Mercy Malick, have taken to social media to denounce the allegations, with Malick describing them as "beyond insane" and expressing gratitude for the support received.
