Atletico Madrid Ends Slump with 2-1 Win Over Real Betis

Atletico Madrid secured a crucial 2-1 victory against Real Betis, ending their recent slump and extending their unbeaten run against Los Verdiblancos to 10 matches. The win was a much-needed boost for Atletico, who had only managed one win in their previous seven matches across all competitions.

Atletico took the lead early in the game through an own goal. Mario Hermoso's persistence in Betis territory led to a sequence where the ball deflected off Hector Bellerin, then German Pezzella, then goalkeeper Rui Silva, and ultimately into the net off the post.

Despite dominating the first half, Atletico faced a setback when Silva saved Alvaro Morata's penalty kick. However, Morata redeemed himself before halftime, scoring from a rebound after Silva saved Rodrigo De Paul's initial shot.

Betis improved in the second half, with Jan Oblak making a crucial save to deny Willian Jose's header. However, Betis managed to pull one back with a spectacular goal from William Carvalho, curling the ball into the top corner from 25 yards out.

In the final 15 minutes, Oblak made several important saves to preserve Atletico's lead, denying Ayoze Perez and Gabriel. The victory comes at a crucial time for Atletico as they prepare for their midweek UEFA Champions League second leg against Inter Milan. Meanwhile, Betis' five-match unbeaten run comes to an end, and they continue to struggle for an away win against top-half teams this season.
