Oklahoma City Thunder's Josh Giddey Cleared of Charges Amidst Allegations

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey will not face charges following allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a minor, as stated by the Newport Beach, California, police.

The department conducted a comprehensive examination of the claims, which emerged on social media, and found no evidence to support any criminal activity related to Mr. Giddey. The police investigation has been officially closed.

In November, anonymous social media posts accused Giddey of having an inappropriate relationship with a high school junior. The Newport Beach Police Department's findings contradict these claims. Giddey had previously declined to comment on the allegations during a November news conference, stating that he had nothing to say at the moment. The NBA had initiated its own investigation, and spokesperson Michael Bass mentioned that the league was aware of the police probe's findings and was continuing its review of the allegations.

Giddey, a Melbourne, Australia native, was the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft and the first NBA Global Academy graduate selected in the draft. He achieved All-Rookie second team honors during the 2021-2022 season.
