Former Nickelodeon Producer Dan Schneider Denies Sexualizing Young Stars

Dan Schneider, the former Nickelodeon producer known for hit shows like "The Amanda Show" and "Drake & Josh," has strongly denied allegations of creating a toxic workplace and sexualizing young child stars on set. These allegations were brought up in the documentary series "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV."

In response, Schneider stated that numerous adults oversaw all aspects of the shows, and everything was approved by the network. He emphasized that scripts underwent rigorous vetting, requiring approvals from both New York City and Los Angeles networks. If anything inappropriate had been found, it would have been flagged and blocked by the multilayered scrutiny.

He further explained that all stories, dialogue, costumes, and makeup were fully approved by network executives on both coasts. Additionally, a standards and practices group reviewed and approved every script, and programming executives reviewed and approved all episodes.

Schneider also noted that parents, caregivers, and friends were present on set every day, ensuring that the scripts and filming were kid-appropriate.

These statements come after the airing of the first two installments of "Quiet on the Set," which alleged that some of Schneider's shows appeared to sexualize child stars in specific scenes. The documentary also explored claims of sexism, racism, and inappropriate behavior involving underage stars, as well as crew members' allegations that they were asked to massage Schneider on set.
