Ruben Amorim Denies Manchester United links

Sporting CP head coach Ruben Amorim,38, has explicitly rejected any continuing negotiations or approaches from

Manchester United, despite recent rumors tying him to the English Premier League giants.

Despite suggestions that Amorim may be in the race to replace under-fire United manager Erik ten Hag, the Sporting CP coach has denied any such speculation.

United's poor start to the season has generated concerns about Ten Hag's future at the club, leading rumors about prospective managerial replacements.

According to recent rumors, Amorim and former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane are being evaluated as prospective successors to the faltering English team.

However, Amorim addressed the suspicions around his probable move to Old Trafford during a post-match news conference following Sporting CP's 4-2 win against Farense in the Portuguese League Cup.

‘This year I’m not going to go back to the same conversation as last year,'

‘I’m not going to make any kind of comment on these situations. We don’t know the future, it depends on the results.'

Amorim went on to say that he has an idea of how he wants things to proceed in the following months, but that he hasn't spoken to United yet.

Regarding the future, I have an idea for the end of the season but I won’t say it now. But the results and the context take us to something different,' he added.

‘I don’t want to be commenting on these things. I have not been contacted by Manchester United.’

Amorim is understood to have a release clause of around €10m (£8.7m) in his Sporting contract.

When asked whether his stance would change if the clause was triggered, he replied:

‘I’m not going to be commenting on that.

‘I will respect the contract, everything that is there will be fulfilled.’

Amorim has been Sporting's manager since March 2020 and has never coached outside of Portugal.
