Nathan Tella Credits Alejandro Grimaldo for Assists and Friendship at Bayer Leverkusen

Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella has highlighted his strong relationship with Spanish defender Alejandro Grimaldo, crediting him for assisting most of his goals at Bayer Leverkusen, Soccernet.ng reports.

Tella made the move to Bayer Leverkusen from Burnley last summer in a deal worth €23.3 million, and he has proven to be an important player for the team. The Nigerian forward has scored five goals and provided one assist in 16 appearances for Die Werkself.

Despite a slow start to the season, Tella has become a first-team regular, helping the team in their push for the Bundesliga title.

In Bayer Leverkusen's recent 2-0 victory over Wolfsburg, Tella scored his fifth goal of the season. He reacted quickly to a cross from Grimaldo and headed the ball into the net to give Die Werkself the lead. After scoring, he ran over to Grimaldo, who was on the left side of Bayer Leverkusen's attack, to celebrate.

Following the win, Tella spoke about his bond with Grimaldo, emphasizing their on-field chemistry.

"Out of my five goals in the league, Grimaldo has assisted four, so I always go to celebrate with him because I'm so happy to play with him," Tella said. "He gets me a lot of goals and opportunities, and it's nice to play with him. Before the game against Wolfsburg, we spoke, and I told him that if I scored, I'd come to him. It was nice to celebrate with him. But more importantly, it was good to get the win for the team."

Bayer Leverkusen currently lead the Bundesliga table, sitting ten points above second-place Bayern Munich. Xabi Alonso's side will be aiming to finish the season strongly and end Bayern Munich's long reign in Germany.
