Former Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has suggested that the absence of Victor Boniface significantly impacted the team's performance, leading to what he described as "limited football" during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Boniface, a Bayer Leverkusen star, was expected to partner with Victor Osimhen in leading the Super Eagles' attack. However, he suffered an injury just days before the tournament began, during the team's training camp in Abu Dhabi, forcing him to be withdrawn from the competition.
