Sophia Bush Comes Out as Queer, Reflects on Marriage and Fertility Journey

Hollywood actress Sophia Bush has publicly come out as queer, a year after announcing the end of her short-lived marriage. In an intimate feature in Glamour magazine, the 41-year-old star of “One Tree Hill” opened up about her love life and personal journey.

Bush described experiencing cold feet before marrying entrepreneur Grant Hughes in July 2022. Despite doubts, she went through with the wedding, describing it as one of the greatest weekends ever. However, the following year was challenging, especially with the heartbreak of the fertility process, which led her to reassess her relationship.

As she navigated this difficult time, Bush accepted a theatrical role in London’s West End, which allowed her some time for introspection. Upon returning to LA, she found solace in a group of women, including former soccer player Ashlyn Harris, who was going through her own relationship struggles.

It was during this period that Bush realized her feelings for Harris, whom she had known for four years. Reflecting on her journey, Bush expressed a sense of reluctance to "come out" in 2024, given the current political climate and the challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. However, she also acknowledged the importance of honoring her truth and the support she has received from the queer community.

Bush described her sexuality as existing on a spectrum and currently identifies with the term "queer." She expressed joy and a sense of belonging in embracing this identity, highlighting the love and respect she has experienced within the queer community throughout her life.
