Nottingham Forest Sacks Head Coach Steve Cooper

Nottingham Forest Football Club in England has terminated the contract of head coach Steve Cooper, following a series of disappointing results, including a recent defeat to Tottenham. The club's owner, Evangelos Marinakis, made the decision after witnessing poor performances in matches against Everton and Fulham. Marinakis, who watched the Tottenham game from Athens, met with the board on Tuesday afternoon, December 19, to finalize the dismissal.

Former Wolves and Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly the front-runner to replace Cooper. Nuno, who recently managed Saudi club Al-Ittihad, is expected to return to English football and is said to be flying to the UK for discussions. Nuno's last managerial stint in England was with Tottenham in 2021, where he was dismissed in less than four months.

Cooper, who took charge in September 2021, played a pivotal role in ending Nottingham Forest's 23-year absence from the top division by securing promotion to the Premier League in 2022. However, the team's recent struggles have led to his departure from the club.
