Katangua and Oke Afa Markets Closure by Lagos State Government for Environmental Violations

The Lagos State government has closed down Katangua and Oke Afa markets due to violations of environmental sanitation regulations. Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, confirmed the closure on Sunday, January 21.

According to Ajayi, the decision to shut down Katangua market was made by the monitoring and compliance team of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) due to severe violations of environmental sanitation standards.

Similarly, Oke Afa market in Isolo was closed down on the same day due to environmental sanitation issues and poor waste disposal practices, as stated by the Monitoring and Compliance Department.
