Olympic Judo Star Maricet Gonzalez Espinosa Dies at 34 After Heart Attack During Breast Enlargement Surgery




Maricet Gonzalez Espinosa, an Olympic judoka star, has passed away at the age of 34 after suffering a heart attack and complications following breast enlargement surgery. Espinosa, nicknamed 'La Mole,' represented Cuba at the 2016 Olympics in the women's 63kg competition. 

Despite her successful career, which included being a double Pan American Judo champion, she retired from the sport in 2017. 

The Manuel Fajardo Cuban Sports University, known for producing Olympic athletes, paid tribute to Espinosa, expressing deep condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. Sports journalist Robiel Vega also mourned the loss of the "excellent athlete" and former National Team member.
