Woman Receives 15-Year Sentence for Brutal Murder of Sister

A 35-year-old woman, Tshepho Mogoshadi Mphahlele, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Mokopane Regional Court for the brutal murder of her twin sister in Ga Mogotlane village, Limpopo, South Africa.

According to Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the spokesperson for Limpopo police, the woman was convicted of brutally killing her twin sister on January 18, 2023.

"During the trial, the court learned that the accused attacked her twin sister following a heated argument, stabbing her multiple times with a knife until she succumbed to her injuries at their residence," Mashaba stated.

After the murder, Mphahlele dismembered her sister's body with an axe before fleeing the scene. She later surrendered to the Moletlane police station on January 20, where she was subsequently arrested.

Sergeant Rodney Mothiba was assigned to the case and worked diligently to ensure the accused was denied bail until the guilty verdict was reached, Mashaba added.

"The accused has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the murder of her twin sister," Mashaba noted. Hadebe emphasized that no one has the right to take another person's life, even in response to provocation.
