Former Kwara State Governor Detained by EFCC Over Alleged N10 Billion Diversion

Former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of diverting over N10 billion.

He was detained after honoring the anti-graft agency's invitation at the Ilorin zonal office and was questioned by investigators. The investigation revolves around the alleged diversion, mismanagement, and money laundering of funds during his tenure as governor between 2011 and 2019.

The EFCC clarified that the ex-governor voluntarily reported to their office in Ilorin and that there was no basis for arresting him. They are working to finalize the investigation ahead of his arraignment before the Federal High Court in Ilorin to avoid jurisdiction-related delays.
