Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is aiming to make a comeback to the Nigerian national team after missing out on selection for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
Okoye had a challenging period at Sky Bet Championship club Watford last season due to injury. However, he secured a permanent transfer to Serie A side Udinese last summer to revitalize his career.
Now a regular starter at Udinese, the 24-year-old is eager to earn another opportunity with the Super Eagles. Despite facing stiff competition from in-form goalkeeper Nwabali, Okoye remains determined.
“I’m feeling very well now, I feel 100%,” Okoye expressed to the club’s official website. “The national team is important to me, and I want to make a return as soon as possible. It was tough watching the Africa Cup of Nations from home, but that's football.”
