Wendy Williams' brother, Tommy Williams, has spoken out, alleging that the former talk show host is 'stuck' in a treatment facility and advocating for her release. Williams, 59, is currently receiving treatment for frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in an undisclosed facility in New York, where she has reportedly been since April 2023.
Tommy expressed his desire for Wendy's release, stating, 'I know that she is stuck and we are trying to unstick her. Her family is here, and she doesn't need a facility. We are here to take care of her.' He also mentioned their father's wish to see her, emphasizing, 'All I want for her is freedom.'
Communication between Wendy and her family has been challenging, according to Tommy. 'We can't communicate unless someone patches us through,' he revealed, adding that they wait for her calls and are committed to listening and sharing when she reaches out.
Tommy expressed frustration at not being able to see his sister, attributing it to the facility's rules. 'You can't leave. You're there as part of a program,' he explained, noting that this situation has been ongoing since April 2023.
The update on Wendy's condition comes ahead of the premiere of a Lifetime documentary, "Where Is Wendy Williams?," which explores her struggles with alcohol abuse and mental health.
