Two Adults Charged with Second-Degree Murder in Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting

Following the tragic shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade, two adults have been charged with second-degree murder. The suspects, identified as Dominic M. Miller of Kansas City and Lyndell Mays of Raytown, are also facing charges of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors allege that the incident began with an argument, during which Mays reportedly pulled out a gun, leading others, including Miller, to do the same. It is believed that Miller fired the shot that tragically killed local DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

During a press conference, prosecutor Jean Peters Baker stated that the office is actively seeking additional suspects involved in the shooting. She also mentioned that both Miller and Mays are currently hospitalized with injuries sustained during the incident.

If found guilty, Miller and Mays could face life behind bars. They are being held on a $1,000,000 bond. The shooting resulted in the death of Lopez-Galvan, a mother of two and local radio DJ, as well as injuries to 22 others, ranging from 8 to 47 years old.

Initially, three juveniles were detained, but one was released after it was determined that they were not involved in the shooting. Specialists from the ATF are working to connect firearms owned by suspects to debris left at the scene.
