Former Nigerian International Calls for Coach Peseiro's Dismissal Despite AFCON Success

Former Nigerian international, Peterside Idah, is advocating for the dismissal of Coach Jose Peseiro despite the Super Eagles' second-place finish in the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Nigeria suffered a 1-2 defeat to hosts Ivory Coast in the final match played on Sunday night, despite reaching their first AFCON final since 2013 under Peseiro's leadership.

Speaking on Monday's edition of Channels Television's Sunrise Daily, Peterside Idah expressed his belief that Peseiro's tenure with the team should come to an end, despite the team's achievement in reaching the finals.

"A lot of people have asked me yesterday, the coach got to the finals? What do you think? I said, fire him!" remarked Peterside.

Idah's stance underscores the sentiment among some Nigerian football enthusiasts who believe that despite the team's success in reaching the final, changes in coaching staff are necessary for further progress.
