Former France Teammate Claims Paul Pogba Was 'Tricked' into Taking Banned Substance

Paul Pogba, the former Manchester United midfielder, has been embroiled in controversy after being handed a four-year ban for doping. The ban stemmed from a failed drugs test in August, where he tested positive for testosterone.

Rio Mavuba, who played alongside Pogba in the French national team, has come to Pogba's defense, suggesting that Pogba might have been deceived. Mavuba, who was part of France's 2014 World Cup squad alongside Pogba and earned 13 caps for Les Bleus, stated, "[I am] in no doubt about Paul’s sincerity and I think he may have been somewhat tricked too."

Maintaining his innocence, Pogba expressed his stance, stating, "As a professional athlete, I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I have played for, or against." Pogba has decided to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
