Roma vs Udinese Match Abandoned as Evan Ndicka Collapses on Pitch Clutching Chest

The Serie A clash between Roma and Udinese was abruptly halted following a medical emergency involving Roma and Ivory Coast defender Evan Ndicka. In the 70th minute of the match, Ndicka collapsed on the pitch, clutching his chest, leading to the game being suspended for 10 minutes.

Ndicka, who joined Roma from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer, was conscious but was stretchered off the field. Referee Luca Pairetto, in consultation with both managers, made the decision to abandon the match around 10 minutes after the incident occurred. The score was level at 1-1 at the time of the suspension.

Following the incident, Ndicka was taken to the hospital for further checks. In a statement, Roma said, "Following the on-field medical emergency involving Evan Ndicka, the match between Udinese and Roma has been suspended. The player is conscious and has been taken to the hospital for further checks. Forza Evan, we are all with you!"

Roma players showed their support by visiting Ndicka in the hospital. The club later posted on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, that Ndicka is feeling better and in good spirits but will remain in the hospital for further observations.

Udinese also shared a message of support for Ndicka, saying, "We are with you, Ndicka."

Ndicka, 24, has made 28 appearances in all competitions for Roma this season. The exact cause of his collapse on the pitch has not been disclosed.
