All you need to know about the Secret Five Love Languages and their meaning (Part two)

A review of: The secrets to the love that lasts

by Dr. Gary Chapman

This is the conclusion of last week’s post, where I wrote about Love Languages and the different types.

Here are some quick tips to help figure out your love language:

– Examine your childhood

Try to remember how your parents expressed their love towards you.

What type of things made you feel loved?  That may have translated to how you now express and receive it.

– What’s your first instinct when you want to show someone that you love them?  Trust your instinct.

– How have you been deeply hurt in the past?  What hurts the most?  That can shed light on what your love language is.

Now that you know your love language, think about these love languages from your partner's perspective.

Can you identify their love language? You ask them to take the quiz instead of assuming.

Everyone is different and many of us don't realize that we speak different love languages.  Another example – let’s say your love language is acts of service, and you take out the trash as a loving gesture.. depending on their love language, your partner may not see it that way.  What we think is an act of love may not be seen that way by your wife/husband/SO.  So we must learn and understand their love language if we want to make them feel loved.

The goal is to speak your partner's love language and fill up their love tank,  like the gas tank in your car, you want to fill it up and keep it full. When your tank is full, our lives run at their best, or you can run on fumes, and eventually, you will burn out.

The secrets to the love that lasts is a simple, but very powerful book.

The first thing you need to do is find out your partner's love language. Do not assume what it is.

Then, commit to doing something special each week. something that ties into their primary love language.

“If your relationship is already running on fumes, then it may take a while for their love tank to get full, but keep at it and over time, you will reap the rewards.”

ASUU warns FG about incoming strike

The likelihood of The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, shutting down all public universities is increasing. This has been made possible due to the federal government’s inability to implement agreements the two parties struck in December 2020, which led to the suspension of a nine-month strike.

ASUU had shut down academic activities in public universities between March and December 2020 during an indefinite strike, when the Memorandum of Action (MoA) was signed as the Federal Government agreed to meet their demands.

However, one year after the strike was suspended, ASUU has accused the Federal Government of failing to fulfill its side of the agreement and threatened to begin another strike immediately.

School activities have continued in the universities until date amid reports that the union and the Government, on October 18, reached an agreement on the N22.17 billion earned allowances and N30 billion revitalization fund for public universities.

The agreement was reached after a meeting between ASUU, and the government, led by the Minister of Finance and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, and the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiubam, while Femi Gbajabiamilar, speaker of the House of Representatives, presided over it.

Apart from the earned allowance and revitalization fund, another major issue is a remuneration payment platform, as the union proposed the University Transparency, Accountability Solution, UTAS, while the FG insisted on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, IPPIS, as a payment platform for all federal workers.

Speaking with DAILY POST on Sunday, the ASUU National President, Prof. Emmanuel Osedeke said there would be a lecture-free day in some branches on Monday (today) to enable members to have urgent meetings.

According to him, if the Federal Government fails to do the needful, an indefinite strike would be inevitable.

He stated that after the meeting, members of the union would embark on sensitizing the general public and students on the issues and their consequences if the government fails to act quickly.

He said, “We declared Monday a lecture-free day in some of our branches because we are going to be having meetings in those places.

“After the meeting, we are going to interact with the public and the students to tell them what is ongoing and what they should expect if the issues are not properly handled by the Federal Government.”

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West clash over the presence of North on Tiktok

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are back in the news as the ex-couple are at war over their first daughte's presence on TikTok.

Kanye shared a screenshot of North’s account as he asked his followers;

“Since this is my first divorce I need to know what I should do about my daughter being put on TikTok against my will?”

In November 2021, Kim created a joint TikTok account for her and her North West.

The account includes videos of them lip-syncing to songs and they have over 5.5million followers.

After the rapper issued a message on Instagram, Kim fired back at Kanye West in a lengthy statement.

“Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create.

As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, | am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision – because it brings her happiness.”

The billionaire businesswoman further stated;

Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all. From the beginning | have wanted nothing but a healthy and supportive co-parenting relationship because it is what is best for our children and it saddens me that Kanye continues to make it impossible every step of the way.

Following their divorce, Kanye made various statements about wanting his estranged wife back. Kim, however, reportedly filed to be legally single in December.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is now dating Saturday Night Live comedian, Pete Davidson.

Meanwhile, Kanye is dating Julia Fox with the actress penning an essay about their first date and their ‘instant connection’.

Before dating Kanye, Kim was married to Kris Humphries from 2011 to 2013.

Mane the hero as Senegal wins first AFCON

Senegal's Mane sealed the win for the Teranga Lions after a goalless 120 minutes against Egypt.

Yesterday, Senegal became African champions for the first time in their history after their penalty shootout win against Egypt in Yaoundé.

Egypt reached the final of the competition after beating hosts Cameroon 3-1 in the semi-final to book a spot in the final against Senegal.

While the Teranga Lions defeated Burkina Faso 3-1 to reach their second consecutive final.

This was Senegal's third AFCON final as they kept searching for their first-ever AFCON title, while Egypt were hoping to win their first trophy since 2010 and their eighth overall.

Egypt's coach, Carlos Queiroz was absent from the touchline after his sending off against Cameroon, but he communicated with his staff from the stands via Walkie Talkie.

Senegal looked dangerous from the blast of the whistle, and immediately won a penalty in the third minute after Abdelmonem brought down Ciss inside the box.

Mane missed the resulting penalty as his attempt was saved by Abou-Gabal.

The penalty miss did not bring the spirits of the Senegalese, as they continued to have the upper hand in the opening 15 minutes.

Egypt had two chances, but it was Senegal who attacked the most in the first half.

After the half-time break, Senegal were straight back on the attack, and Abou-Gabal had to be sharp in making some saves

Egypt's best chance fell to Marwan Hamdi who had the chance to kill off the tie but was put off by Abdou Diallo and his effort went wide.

The rest of the second half saw Senegal keeping the ball, but without creating clear-cut chances.

The game went into extra time, Egypt's 4th of the competition.

The extra-time started with An immediate chance for Senegal as Mane put Dieng through on goal, but he was denied by Abou-Gabal.

Dieng had another crack on goal from 30 yards out, but as usual, Abou-Gabal denied him

Marwan Hamdi had the last chance of the game as he struck from inside the box, but it was straight at Mendy, who palmed it over.

The game went into penalty shootouts, the third time for the Egyptian in the tournament, but this time it didn’t come with a happy ending.

While Bouna Sarr missed for Senegal, both Mohamed Abdelmonem and Mohanad Lashin missed for the Pharaohs for Sadio Mane to score the final winning penalty and redeem himself for the earlier miss.

Senegal won 4-2 on Penalties.

“Why Nigeria will shake in 2023”- Governor Wike explains

Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike, has claimed the country will “shake” after decisions about the 2023 general elections would be taken by the South.

Governor Wike also made it clear that his party, PDP , will only give its presidential ticket to a candidate who has the interest of Nigerians at heart.

Wike spoke at a grand reception organized for him by the people of Kalabari ethnic nationality, held at the Abalama School field in Asari Toru Local Government Area, Rivers state.

Kelvin Ebiri, his Special Assistant on Media, said in a statement that Wike made it crystal clear that political leaders in the south will soon come out with their decision concerning the country’s number one position.

Wike said: “The day the south will speak, Nigeria will shake. We believe in the unity of this country, but nobody can threaten us. Nobody should threaten us. We believe in the unity of Nigeria and unity of Nigeria must continue.”

He added, “No amount of gang-up can make PDP give somebody who will want to run an election for the interest of some big men, and not for all Nigerians.

Anybody who wants to be the candidate of PDP must be a candidate for the interest of Nigerians.”

400 Astroworld Lawsuits Combined Into One Mega Case Against US Rapper, Travis Scott

Travis Scott and Live Nation, the  organizers of his Astroworld concert, are facing a massive lawsuit, that has seen almost 400 individually file cases.

The cases represent about 2,800 victims who attended the concert on November 5,2021.

According to reports, 10 lives were lost while hundreds were injured in a stampede at the concert in Houston, Texas two months ago.

Billboard have acquired legal documents that shows that the new case will consist of at least 387 people filed lawsuits saying that Scott and Live Nation were negligent in the planning and execution of Astroworld.

“We conclude that the cases arising out of [Astroworld] are related, and we find that transfer of those cases would result in more efficient pretrial of the related cases.”

The filing also states that the number of cases might change because more people might come forward after the new lawsuit is filed, while others might drop out.

Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) is a common lawsuit filed on a similar complaint by several plaintiffs. An MDL means that a single judge will negotiate a settlement to resolve all the cases at the same time.

The publication also reported that the victims who filed the lawsuit against Scott and his management are seeking billions of dollars in damages.

Amazing Health tips to consider this year

Why we eat is as important as what we eat.

Here are some things you can do to make this year your healthiest year yet:

  • Eat Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

A healthy breakfast high in fiber and low in fat, sugar, and salt can form part of a balanced diet and can help you get the nutrients you need for good health.

Do not skip breakfast because you think it'll help in losing weight. It is wrong and harmful.

A low-sugar cereal and semi-skimmed milk with some fruit to go with it would be the perfect healthy breakfast.

  • Drinkwater

Drinking water is very necessary for achieving optimal health. Studies have shown that dehydration can affect negatively; it can cause

lack of Concentration, headaches, frustrations, and increased cravings.

You can never go wrong with drinking enough water, the upsides are endless.

Do not allow yourself to get thirsty.

  • Eat more fruits and vegetables

The daily consumption of fruits and vegetables is crucial to the body and very healthy.

They are full of vitamins and less fatty than many processed foods. Consuming at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit daily is good, you can have them frozen, fresh, or dried.

  • Exercise more

Exercise helps with the overall health and wellbeing of a person.

Being overweight can cause health issues like; diabetes, certain cancers, heart disease, and stroke.

Most adults need to lose weight by eating fewer calories and exercising more.

  • Consume more Fish

Fish contain protein, vitamins, and minerals which are healthy for the body.

It is recommended to eat at least 2 portions of fish weekly, including at least 1 portion of oily fish.

Although eating foods high in oil can be bad for your heart, oily fish isn’t.

Oily fish are high in omega-3 fats, which can help to prevent heart diseases

The recommended oily fish for consumption are Sardines, Mackerel, Salmon Herring, and pilchards.

Non-oily fish include Cod, Tuna, Tilapia, and Pollock. You can choose from canned, frozen, or fresh fish.

  • Consume less carbonated drinks

Carbonated drinks are high in sugar and detrimental to the health of your body, it is recommended to replace these fizzy drinks with smoothies or even yogurt.

Smoothies are healthy drinks made of fruits and other supplements like vegetables and liquids such as Spinach, broccoli, milk, and many more.

  • Eat less salt:

Consuming too much salt can raise your blood pressure which could lead to heart disease or stroke.

Adults should not take more than 6g in a day which is about one teaspoon. Children lower than 11 years should consume even less.

By not adding salt to your food, you might still be exceeding the daily amount, because about three-quarters of the salt you eat is already in the food when you buy it.

You can make use of food labels to help cut down. More than 1.5g of salt per 100g means the food is high in salt.

Egypt beat Cameroon to setup final against Senegal.

Egypt have reached the final of the Africa cup of Nations after defeating Cameroon on penalties.

The pharaohs produced a brilliant defensive performance throughout 120 minutes and  Goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabal - the backup stopper at the start of the tournament behind Mohamed El Shenawy - was the hero for the Pharaohs as he saved two penalties during the shootout.

Overall, the game between Cameroon and Egypt lacked quality.

The two main threats going into the game massively underperformed in front of goal. Walsh managed only two shots off target, while Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar - the current top scorer in the competition with six strikes - was disappointing in front of goal.

Egypt manager Carlos Queiroz injected some life into what had been a tough game to watch when he was sent off for losing his composure over the referee's decisions.

The former Manchester United assistant won't be on the touchline for Sunday's final.

Egypt were the underdogs against Cameroon and will be again when they take on Senegal. The Lions of Teranga have been brilliant defensively, conceding just two goals, with defensive stars Kalidou Koulibaly, Abdou Diallo and Edouard Mendy all impressing.

This would be Egypt's second AFCON final in three tournaments, and one of the big talking points going into the final would be the

mouthwatering clash between two of Africa’s best Forwards;Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, whose Senegal side made it to the final after beating Burkina Faso on Wednesday.

The final will take place on Sunday at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon.

All you need to know about the Secret Five Love Languages and their meaning

This is a summary of,

The secrets to the love that lasts

by Dr Gary Chapman

Ever been in a relationship where it seems like the maximum effort you put to please your partner does not seem to be enough?

Where no matter what you do, they keep feeling frustrated and unloved.

This could be so frustrating, but the reason they are feeling unloved is simply because you are not speaking their LOVE LANGUAGE.

The premise of the book by Dr Gary Chapman is that people don’t  give and receive Love the same way.

Most of us think the way we want to be loved is how others want to be loved. But this is not the case as there are five love languages.

Love languages are so important and You need to know how you and your Partner both give and receive love.

The five love languages are:

Words of affirmation

"You looked nice today'’, “I love you”, "Thanks for putting the kids to bed" are some examples of verbal expressions of care and affection.

If these words are so dear to you then Words of Affirmations is your love language.

People who have these love language also tend to detest Insults.

Quality Time

As important as quality time and undivided attention are in a relationship, some people tend to cherish it more than others- people whose love language is quality time will feel that even more keenly, and crave time where both people are present without distraction.

If this is the love language of your partner then try to always be available, try to listen to their problems, cancelled or postponed dates also hurt, as well as being distracted or distant.

Receiving gifts

To this type, its the thoughts that counts-  its not about the value of the gift.

They see Gifts as a sign of love and thought, no matter how Tangible and intangible the items might look, it makes them feel appreciated or noticed.

If your partner falls under this category then, the absence of everyday gestures or missing a special occasion is particularly hurtful and could harm them.

Acts Of service

Doing something helpful or kind for your partner. Like  Waking up with the baby in the middle of the night or doing the chores around the house or errands that ease the burden of responsibility are the loving characteristics of this love language.

If your partner favors acts of service try not to break commitments, being lazy can also make feel unloved.

Physical touch

Physical expressions of love, whether sexual or more platonic, such as holding hands, a back scratch, a hug, a kiss, or sex.

The absence of such can leave these individuals feeling isolated in a relationship.

Do you love hugs, holding hands, and thoughtful touches the most?  Is there physical presence crucial to you?

Any kind of neglect or abuse would destroy this type of person

Gary Chapman said in his book that “the key to a lasting relationship is learning love languages”. Try to know these love languages, and figure out the one that stands out for you and your partner.

You can like every type of love language, but you need to figure out the one that stands out for you.

You can take a quiz to know your love language at: https://www.5lovelanguages.com/ to help discover yours, or your partner's in case you're having a tough time figuring it out.

Sadio Mane Shines as Senegal go through to AFCON final

After starting the tournament slowly, and progressing from the group with one win and two draws, Senegal has become the first team to qualify for the final of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations following a comfortable 3-1 victory over Burkina Faso.

It was an intense game, with both sides creating plenty of chances, but the pre-tournament favourites always looked like coming out on top.

Senegal had a shout for a penalty wiped off by VAR on the half-hour mark, but the incident still took a toll as Burkina Faso goalkeeper Herve Koffi was forced off with an injury.

They were awarded a penalty deep into first-half stoppage time when Edmond Tapsoba was deemed to have blocked Idrissa Gueye's shot with his hand, but VAR overruled the decision and they went into the break level.

With ten minutes to go, Burkina Faso threatened to make a game of it as Ibrahim Blati Toure kneed the ball into the back of the net, but Senegal ahowed their class to kill off the game and even added a third through Sadio Mane.

For Senegal, it's an opportunity to avenge their defeat in the final of 2019.

Manager Cisse is just the third African to reach back-to-back AFCON finals, and he'll hope to go one step further this time around.

They'll face either Egypt or hosts Cameroon in the final.
