Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has praised President Bola Tinubu for his leadership, acknowledging the challenges Tinubu faced upon assuming office in May 2023.
Speaking during a meeting with the comptroller-general and members of the management team of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) in Daura, Katsina state, Buhari described governing Nigeria as a tough job. He urged Nigerians to endure the economic difficulties and to support the policies and programs of the current administration.
“I thank you very much for coming. I very much appreciate it. I think Tinubu has done very well. Nigeria is so complex. Really, there isn’t much anybody can do,” Buhari stated.
President Tinubu's administration has faced criticism from some Nigerians, particularly regarding policies such as the removal of petrol subsidy and the unification of the exchange rate, which have contributed to high inflation and economic challenges.
