The buzz towards the super bowl has been on for weeks, and the show did not fail to disappoint
The game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams lived up to the build-up as the Rams defeated the Bengals 23-20 to win their first title in 22 years.
The highlight of the super bowl is always the halftime performances by well-known celebrities For the first time, the halftime show was headlined by Dr. Dre and proteges Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem.
Eminem, during the performance of his Grammy and Oscar-winning smash “Lose Yourself”made the headlines as he showed his support towards the fight against racism by taking a knee which invoked a racial justice protest.
Dre and Snoop opened with their hit “The Next Episode,” before paying tribute to Tupac Shakur with “California Love.”
East Coast made a cameo as 50 Cent dropped down from the ceiling while launching into the early 2000s favourite “In Da Club,” before Blige kicked the show up a notch with her superhit “Family Affair.”
Wearing all white, R&B star Blige then sang “No More Drama,” ahead of Kendrick Lamar’s performance of “Alright” in front of the stage.
Kaepernick began kneeling during national anthems in 2016 to protest police brutality and racial injustice, triggering controversy for years.
Legendary music icon Dre then sat at the piano to drop the iconic opening notes of his hit “Still D.R.E.,” before all of the performers joined together to close the rap spectacular.
Anderson .Paak also notably made a cameo on drums.
