Why footballers tear their socks

Footballers wear socks to house the shinpads and prevent the risk of

injuries, but in recent times, fans have noticed a trend of socks being ripped at the back.

There have been numerous questions about this act, but the truth is that these socks could be uncomfortable and restricting, so they do it to:

  1. relieve strain on their calf muscles.

  2. to reduce any risk of cramps.

Although none of these methods are scientifically proven, it is more of a superstition that helps footballers get into the mindset of playing without worries.

So no, they do not do it because the quality of the socks are bad

NB: It is also rumored to be the reason why Jack Grealish wears his socks low.
