Dave Chappelle Criticizes Katt Williams for Targeting Fellow Black Comedians

American comedian Dave Chappelle has voiced his disappointment with fellow comedian Katt Williams for targeting other Black comedians in a recent Club Shay Shay interview. During a stand-up performance at MonDeRays at the Hollywood Improv, Chappelle criticized Williams for not addressing any white comedians in a similar manner.

Chappelle suggested that "hurt people hurt people," but emphasized that despite being a hurt person himself, he doesn't engage in throwing shade at his fellow comics. He defended some of Williams' targets, including Cedric the Entertainer and Steve Harvey, questioning the logic behind going after Cedric, who Katt accused of stealing jokes, due to his age and physique.

Regarding Steve Harvey, Chappelle argued that since he's no longer active in the stand-up scene and is focused on hosting TV shows like "Family Feud" and "Judge Steve Harvey," he shouldn't be a target. Chappelle also impersonated Katt Williams during his performance and highlighted that Williams never took responsibility for his actions but instead focused on what other comedians did to one another.

Chappelle rejected the notion that Williams' actions were beneficial for comedy, countering an argument made by comedian Deray Davis on stage. He pointed out that Williams released a special on the same day as the interview, and it performed well.
