Girona defeat Barca 4-2 in 6 goals thriller

Girona orchestrated a major upset at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, stunning Barcelona with a 4-2 victory in a La Liga showdown.

The drama unfolded as early as the 12th minute when Girona took the lead. Although Robert Lewandowski equalized for Barca in the first half, Girona regained their advantage before the break and extended it further.

In a thrilling top-of-the-table clash, Girona secured their first-ever win over Barcelona, propelling them to the top of La Liga. The underdog's triumph unfolded amidst an expectant home crowd, and Artem Dovbyk's 12th-minute goal set the tone. Despite Lewandowski's response, Girona's Miguel Gutierrez continued to trouble the hosts, contributing to their lead at halftime.

Barcelona intensified their efforts in the second half, but Girona's solid defense and counterattacks proved decisive. A well-executed combination between Cristian Stuani and Valery sealed Girona's victory, extinguishing any hopes of a Barcelona comeback. Despite a late goal from Ilkay Gundogan, Girona had the last word as Stuani scored the fourth, securing their historic win and reclaiming the La Liga summit.
