Cape Verde Holds Egypt to Thrilling 2-2 Draw

Cape Verde's Bryan Teixeira scored a 99th-minute equalizer as they held seven-time champions Egypt to a thrilling 2-2 draw in Group B at the Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.

Cape Verde, already confirmed as group winners, took the lead with a goal from Benchimol at the end of the first half. Egypt responded with Trezeguet's neat finish five minutes into the second half, and Mostafa Mohamed appeared to secure the win in added time.

However, Teixeira had the final say, securing a draw for Cape Verde. Cape Verde topped Group B with seven points, followed by Egypt with three points in second place and Ghana in third with two points. Egypt played without Mohamed Salah, and his agent revealed that Salah could miss the rest of the tournament due to a muscle injury.

The group phase concludes on Wednesday, determining if Ghana advances as one of the best third-place finishers.
