Iris Iliana Rodriguez, a female counselor accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with an 11-year-old girl in Laredo, Texas, has been arrested in Jalisco, Mexico, on December 11. Rodriguez, 34, had been on the run since January 2015, following the issuance of arrest warrants by Webb County, Texas.
The charges included three counts of indecency with a child, three counts of unlawful restraint and harassment, two additional charges for indecency with a child by sexual contact, and flight to avoid prosecution. She had fled to Mexico before her arrest, and a reward of $5,000 was given to a tipster who provided information leading to her apprehension.
Rodriguez's alleged inappropriate conduct occurred while she worked as a counselor for the Child, Adolescent and Parent Services program in Laredo, designed to provide mental health services to individuals aged 3 through 17.
Later, she secured a job at the Border Region Behavioral Health Center in Laredo, which allowed her to visit the minor under the pretense of offering guidance and counseling. The arrest involved coordination between the U.S. Marshals Service, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and INTERPOL Mexico.
