Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announced that the construction of the long-anticipated 37km Fourth Mainland Bridge is set to commence by the end of March or April.

During an address at the Lagos West Senatorial District Town Hall Meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that extensive work has been done on the bridge, and they are in the final stages of securing financing for the project. He expressed commitment to breaking ground on the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge within the first quarter, specifically by the end of March or April.

The construction will be carried out in phases, with the first phase spanning from the junction at Abraham Adesanya to the waterfront at Badore. Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged that there might be some discomfort during the construction, but emphasized the importance of compensating those affected. The subsequent phases will extend from the Waterfront in Ado to Ibeshe in Ikorodu, and from Ibeshe to Ita-Elewa junction, eventually connecting to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

He assured that both tenants and landlords of the affected properties would receive due compensation for the construction-related disruptions.
