Minister of Power Promises Improvement in Nigeria's Power Supply, Calls for Patience


The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has assured Nigerians that the Ministry is working diligently to address the power outages across the country. Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, March 11, Adelabu acknowledged the recent challenges faced by Nigerians due to frequent power cuts but urged them to be patient as the ministry is addressing the issue at its root.


Adelabu stated that the government aims to increase power generation to 6500 MegaWatts (MW) from the current 4500 MW and emphasized that efforts are being made to improve the situation quickly. He expressed confidence that Nigerians would soon see improvements and praised their understanding during this challenging period.


The minister also criticized the poor performance of electricity distribution companies (DisCos) and promised sanctions against underperforming DisCos. He mentioned plans to reorganize the coverage areas of some DisCos to ensure that communities without electricity are served by other companies.
