NNPC Denies Plans to Increase Petrol Pump Price


The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has refuted rumors of intending to hike the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.


In a statement released on Thursday, February 8, NNPC's Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, urged Nigerians not to succumb to panic buying of petrol.


The statement reassured the public, stating, "The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd. assures the public that there is no imminent increase in the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol."


NNPC emphasized that there are no plans for an upward review of the PMS price and urged motorists nationwide to refrain from engaging in panic buying. The company affirmed that there is currently sufficient availability of PMS across the country.
