Super Eagles Captain William Troost-Ekong Travels to Finland for Minor Surgery

Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has reportedly traveled to Finland to undergo a minor surgery for a ruptured biceps femoris in his right leg. The injury was sustained during Nigeria's second Group A game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Troost-Ekong, who scored the winning goal from the spot in the same game, missed Nigeria's final group game against Guinea-Bissau but returned for the Round of 16 victory against Cameroon. He went on to play every minute of the Super Eagles' next three games.

The PAOK defender is expected to undergo surgery in Finland to repair the injury and is likely to return to play for his Greek side, PAOK Salonica, towards the end of the season.

The 30-year-old was named the best player of the 2023 AFCON tournament, highlighting his importance to the Nigerian national team.
