Mark Feehily, a member of the Irish boyband Westlife, has announced his temporary departure from the group due to health issues. The 43-year-old singer shared the news on Wednesday, revealing that he has been battling sepsis.
Feehily recounted his health challenges, which began in August 2020 with surgery complications leading to severe pain and a life-threatening infection. Despite being discharged in December 2020, he has faced ongoing medical problems, including pneumonia in late 2021 and the need for additional surgeries.
After his latest surgery to fix an incisional hernia, Feehily realized the physical demands of touring were too much for him. He expressed regret over missing shows and thanked fans for their support and understanding.
Feehily concluded by stating his decision to step back from touring was for his health, family, and personal well-being. He expressed love for his bandmates and confidence in their continued success without him on tour.
