NAFDAC Intensifies Crackdown on Drug Hawkers in Lagos



The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has stepped up its efforts to combat the illegal sale of drugs by cracking down on drug hawkers in the Apapa area and surrounding areas of Lagos State. The operation, led by NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate, is part of the agency’s ongoing campaign to curb the illicit distribution and sale of unauthorized pharmaceuticals.


During a recent raid, a significant number of drug hawkers were apprehended, and a large quantity of illicit drugs was confiscated. Among the seized items were aphrodisiacs, narcotic substances like tramadol, antibiotics, and various over-the-counter medications. The total street value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around Fifty Million Naira.


Those apprehended in connection with the illegal drug trade will be prosecuted. Additionally, the seized drugs are scheduled for destruction as part of NAFDAC's efforts to ensure public safety and combat the illegal drug trade.
