Manchester United Legends blame Rangnick for Atletico defeat

Speaking go BT Sports after the 0-1(1-2 on aggregate) defeat to Atletico Madrid that saw Manchester United crash out of the champions league, ex-united defender, Rio Ferdinand blamed the result on Ralf Rangnick.

According to Rio, the biggest difference between both teams was not on the pitch but rather with Diego Simeone and Rangnick at their dugouts.

Rio said,

“ The difference between the two teams, the Atletico team, they had a group of reliable men, reliable men who would go out there and do anything the manager asks them”

“ They understand the job at hand and work together as a team. Whereas the other team, Man Utd, they are looking at each other like ‘Who’s going to pull us out of this? Who's going to pull the magic trick out of the hat?’

“It's not about the team getting through this. It is a moment of brilliance from an individual and it is a very different way of working”

Ferdinand went on to advise united to be patient when bringing in a new manager

“Once you get the manager, getting the right person, you are talking a minimum of two, three years before you can think about challenging, and with Manchester City and Liverpool, it's a high bar”

Another United Legend, Paul Scholes also blamed Rangnick and claimed the German coach was not getting the right results with the squad at his disposal

“The coach is a massive part of it, getting a proper coach. This is not a terrible group of players, if you give them structure and a way of playing, there's some real talent in the squad. It is not talented as the teams above them, we know that”

“The very first thing this club needs to do to get anywhere near winning anything is get a proper coach. Gets a coach that suits them and give them a couple of years to build a squad that will challenge”

“Atletico is not a better team than Manchester United, but they've got a coach. If Simeone was coaching at United, they go through that game”

'But now, due to the difficult situation in Ukraine, where he has many relatives, he apologized and asked, for family reasons, not to be called up to this camp,'

Dzyuba later claimed his decision was not due to 'political issues', stressing that there was a 'misunderstanding' between himself and the coach.

'I didn't not join the Russian national team because of political issues. It's about family circumstances, but I don't want to go into details,' he was quoted as telling the Sport-Express news outlet.

See the plan for subsidy to be removed in electricity and fuel

It has been revealed by The Minister of Finance, Budgets and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, that the Federal Government has quietly removed all subsidies in the power sector.

According to The Minister, a plan to gradually end subsidies on petrol is in place.

Ahmed stated this while speaking at a virtual meeting of the International Monetary Fund with the theme: “The Political Economy of Fiscal Reforms in Africa”.

Ahmed explained that although the government had a setback in its initial plan to have subsidies on petrol removed by July this year, it would work with the National Assembly to have it removed in phases.

“We are cleaning up our subsidies. We had a setback, we were to remove fuel subsidy by July this year but there was a lot of push back from the polity,” Ahmed said.

She added: “But we have been able to quietly implement subsidy removal in the electricity sector and as it is, as we speak, we don’t have subsidies in the electricity sector.

“We did that overtime by carefully adjusting the prices at some levels while holding the lower levels down.

“Fuel subsidy is a huge problem for us. It has thrown up our deficits too much higher than we planned. What is happening now with the global oil prices is also going to worsen matters but the current review that we are doing is to hold the subsidy at the level in which we planned.

“We are currently doing a budget amendment to accommodate incremental subsidy (removal) as a result of the reversal of the decision and we want to cap it at that.

“Hopefully, the parliament will agree with us and we are able to continue with our plan for subsidy (removal) otherwise the way things are going we will not be able to predict where we will be,” Ahmed said.

Here are the effects of Roman Abramovich’s Sanction on Chelsea

As a result of the British Government's sanction on Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, Chelsea is set to be affected in the worst possible ways, especially financially.

The club's shirt sponsor, 3, has suspended its deal with the club.

The telecoms company began sponsoring Chelsea at the start of last season in a deal worth around £40m per year, with its logo displayed on the club’s kits, around Stamford

Bridge, and at the training facility in Cobham.

Three had said earlier on Thursday, March 10, that it was considering its relationship with the club, before confirming it would “temporarily suspend” sponsorship and requesting its branding be removed.

The news broke only two and a half hours before Chelsea were due to play Norwich City in the Premier League.

A statement by Three read: “In light of the government’s recently announced sanctions, we have requested Chelsea Football Club temporarily suspend our sponsorship of the club, including the removal of our brand from shirts and around the stadium until further notice.

We recognize that this decision will impact the many Chelsea fans who follow their team passionately. However, we feel that given the circumstances, and the Government sanction that is in place, it is the right thing to do.

“As a mobile network, the best way we can support the people of Ukraine is to ensure refugees arriving in the UK from the conflict and customers currently in Ukraine can stay connected to the people who matter to them. Therefore, we are offering connectivity packages to all Ukrainians in the Uk, and those in Ukraine”.

Chelsea recoups more than £150m per year from their commercial partners including Yokohama Tyres, Sure, Hublot, and trivago, but other brands are now likely to follow Three’s lead.

Another Chelsea sponsor, the car manufacturer Hyundai, is already reviewing its relationship with the club, thought to be worth around £10m per year. “Hyundai has become one of the strongest partners in football over the years & the company supports the sport to be a force for good,” it said. “We are currently assessing the situation with Chelsea FC.”

How Victor Moses is affected by New rule in Russia

FIFA is set to allow clubs in the Russian Premier League to suspend the contracts of just over 100 players, including Victor Moses.

The former Nigerian winger is one of 109 foreign players currently registered with Russian Premier League sides that are set to be allowed to suspend their deals.

It is reported that FIFA will allow these players to temporarily move to new clubs, until June 30.

FIFPro and the World Leagues Forum had called for the change to be a permanent one, but FIFA is understood to announce players must return to their Russian clubs by June 30.

The former Chelsea star, Moses is just one of the players set to be impacted by the decision, having joined Spartak Moscow permanently from Chelsea last summer.

Russian clubs are currently allowed a maximum of eight foreign players within their squad, with Brazil the biggest contributor of foreign talent with 13 players.

Krasnodar announced last week that foreign players and staff can suspend their contracts, with all eight of their foreign stars taking up the option.

Former Norwich City manager Daniel Farke stepped down from his role as Krasnodar boss in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine before he had taken charge of his first match.

FIFA has already banned Russia from international football in response to the country's military operation in Ukraine. This means that the national team will currently not be allowed to take part in the play-offs for the World Cup later this month.
