D’Tigress defeat France to keep world cup dreams alive


 Nigeria’s senior female basketball team, D’Tigress has defeated World No. 5 France in a 2022 FIBA Women's World Cup qualifier.


 The D’Tigress made a comeback to beat the 5th best team in the world, France,  67-65.

The Nigerian women lost the first quarter 11-28 but made amends quickly in the second quarter to win 16-10. This was the start of a comeback win. 


Victoria Macaulay had the most points for Nigeria(19) as the team led in 2 and 3 pointers 51%-44% and 35%-32% respectively.


 


Nigeria now occupies the second spot on the table with 3 points and a -12 game points.


 


D'Tigress is to play Mali next in the last group stage fixture scheduled for Saturday, February 12, 2022. A win against Mali will automatically seal a spot for D'Tigress at the 2022 FIBA Women's World Cup in Australia later this year.
