Davido's Milestones at 31 - Grammy Nods, Family Joy, and Afrobeats Insights

Nigerian singer Davido Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently celebrated his 31st birthday on November 21.

To mark the occasion, he made a special appearance on the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, promoting his fourth studio album, "Timeless." This appearance also coincided with the eve of his birthday. During the show, he showcased his enthusiasm for his three Grammy nominations for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.

Following the success of his Away Festival in Atlanta, Davido, the DMW boss, delivered a spirited medley performance on the Tonight Show featuring his two hit singles from the Grammy-nominated album 'Timeless'— 'Feel' and 'Unavailable.'

As one of the leading figures in the Afrobeats music scene, Davido's efforts have garnered significant recognition, including three Grammy nominations, one of which is a historic nomination for the Academy's inaugural Best African Performance award. Despite potential concerns about the Grammys' handling of the newly introduced African category, Davido expressed confidence and respect for fellow nominees, including Asake, Arya Starr, Burna Boy, and Tyla.

Davido's journey to Grammy contention hasn't been without challenges. In October 2022, he faced a personal tragedy when his 3-year-old son Ifeanyi drowned in their home swimming pool. After grieving privately, Davido made a triumphant return in March with the release of his album "Timeless," earning him two more Grammy nominations for Best Global Music Album and Best Global Music Performance.

In addition to his professional achievements, Davido and his wife Chioma welcomed twins last month—a boy and a girl. The artist shared that their hands have been full taking care of their new blessings.
