Nuhu Ribadu: Terrorism-Related Deaths Drastically Reduced Under President Tinubu

Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), has reported a significant reduction in terrorism-related deaths under President Bola Tinubu's administration, citing a decrease from about 2,600 monthly deaths to less than 200.

Speaking at the High-Level African Counter-Terrorism Meeting in Abuja, Ribadu highlighted the success of the current administration's counter-terrorism efforts. He noted that the government's actions have made it challenging for non-state actors to access small arms and light weapons.

Ribadu stated, "We are working, and I think we have done fairly well. One of the things that we have seen as an indication that things are beginning to look different, for example, is AK-47, which used to be sold for less than N500,000 last year but now goes for N5 million."

He emphasized the government's commitment to not only confiscating but also destroying these weapons. Ribadu praised the armed forces, security forces, and governors for their exceptional efforts in improving security across Nigeria.

He noted a significant decrease in violent crimes and deaths due to the use of arms, with the monthly death toll dropping to less than 200 on average, down from around 2,600 previously. Ribadu attributed these positive changes to the ongoing efforts to enhance security in the country.
