Arteta Affirms Commitment: No Plans to Leave Arsenal Despite Rumors

Mikel Arteta has no plans to leave Arsenal at the end of the season, according to Sky Sports News. Recent reports in Spain suggested that the Arsenal manager was considering stepping down in the summer, with links to the Barcelona job emerging.

Arteta is under contract with Arsenal until the summer of 2025. Reports from Diario AS in Spain claimed that Arteta had informed his entourage of his openness to leaving the Emirates at the end of the current campaign amid ongoing links to Barcelona. The current Barcelona head coach, Xavi, announced on Saturday that he would be stepping down at the end of the season.

Arteta, 41, took on the role of Arsenal head coach in December 2019, replacing Unai Emery. He guided the team to an FA Cup success in August 2020 and secured a return to the Champions League this season after a six-year absence.

The former midfielder, who played for Arsenal from 2011 to 2016, captained the side and won the FA Cup twice during his playing career. Since taking on the managerial role, Arteta has won 124 of his 210 matches as the Arsenal boss.
