Goalkeeper Andre Onana Set to Return to Manchester United After Cameroon's AFCON Exit

Goalkeeper Andre Onana is poised to make a return to Manchester United following Cameroon's elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by Nigeria. Nigeria secured a 2-0 victory in the last-16 tie, with Ademola Lookman scoring both goals. Onana, who played only one match in the tournament, could be available for Manchester United's upcoming match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday.

Nigeria, with four Premier League players in their squad, will face Angola in the quarter-finals on February 2, potentially ruling the players out of their midweek Premier League fixtures and beyond. Ola Aina (Nottingham Forest), Calvin Bassey (Fulham), Frank Onyeka (Brentford), and Alex Iwobi (Fulham) played crucial roles in Nigeria's win over Cameroon.

Mohamed Salah, representing Egypt in AFCON, is unavailable for Sunday's match against DR Congo due to an injury sustained in the group stage. Salah has returned to Liverpool for treatment, and his availability for future matches depends on his recovery, with the AFCON final scheduled for February 10.

On Monday, Senegal will face Ivory Coast in AFCON, featuring several Premier League players. Moussa Niakhate, Fode Ballo-Toure, Pape Sarr, Cheikhou Kouyate, Idrissa Gueye, and Nicolas Jackson are in Senegal's squad, while Ivory Coast's squad includes Simon Adingra, Serge Aurier, Willy Boly, and Ibrahim Sangare.

The last-16 matches on Tuesday could involve seven Premier League players from Mali, Burkina Faso, and Morocco. Yves Bissouma and Boubacar Traore (Mali), Issa Kabore, Dango Ouattara, and Bertrand Traore (Burkina Faso), and Nayef Aguerd and Sofyan Amrabat (Morocco) will be in action.
