Lionel Messi Secures Historic Third Win of The Best FIFA Men's Player Award

Lionel Messi has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first footballer to win The Best FIFA Men's Player award three times. The Argentine superstar, aged 36, was officially announced as the 2023 winner during The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony held in London on Monday, January 15.

Messi's outstanding achievements were recognized as he emerged as the top choice in the voting process, surpassing fellow finalists Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe. Notably, Messi was not in attendance at the ceremony as he was with his Inter Miami teammates, preparing for a pre-season friendly against El Salvador on Friday.

This marks Messi's third win of The Best FIFA Men's Player award, having previously claimed the prestigious title in 2019 and 2022. The award, presented annually, acknowledges the most exceptional performer in the men's football game.
