Nigeria Sets Up AFCON Clash Against Cameroon in Round of 16

 



The Super Eagles are set to face the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) round of 16 on Saturday at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny. Nigeria secured their place in the last 16 by defeating Guinea-Bissau 1-0 with an own goal. The decisive goal came in the 36th minute when a low cross by Simon was turned into the net by Guinea-Bissau's Opa Sangante.


Meanwhile, Cameroon staged a dramatic comeback against Gambia, winning 3-2 with two late goals. Goalkeeper Ondoa played a crucial role in securing the victory for Cameroon, making key saves throughout the match. The upcoming clash between Nigeria and Cameroon brings anticipation, with the Super Eagles aiming for a repeat of their 2019 AFCON encounter, which ended in a 3-2 victory for Nigeria, thanks to goals from Odion Ighalo and Alex Iwobi.
