Police didn't rescue me from kidnappers, ransom was paid - Imo Monarch

Samuel Ohiri, the former chairman of the council of traditional rulers in Imo state, has refuted claims by the police that they rescued him from his abductors.

Ohiri, who was kidnapped on January 6 and released after 13 days, stated that his freedom was secured after a ransom was paid. While acknowledging the efforts of the police, he emphasized that it was his relationship with God and support from family that played a crucial role.

Recounting the abduction, Ohiri mentioned being forced into a vehicle after visiting a friend and subsequently held in different locations. Negotiations led to his release, and he was eventually dropped off in Eziama Obiato before returning to Owerri.
