President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians not to be concerned about the mass departure of skilled workers from the country. He stated that the Federal Government, in collaboration with sub-national entities, will undertake training initiatives to fill the professional gaps left by those who have relocated, especially in health, technology, and other sectors.
The President made these remarks in Owerri, the Imo State capital, during the second-term inauguration of Governor Hope Uzodimma on January 15.
Addressing residents shortly after the governor's oath of office, President Tinubu emphasized the APC administration's commitment to prioritizing the education of children and youths. He assured the public that efforts would be intensified to train more individuals to address the impact of the skilled workforce migration.
He addressed concerns about the so-called "Japa syndrome," assuring the public that the government would invest in training programs to equip and self-sustain the workforce. Additionally, President Tinubu pledged to enhance peace in the South-East, stating that the existing peace would be further improved through concerted efforts.
The President's remarks aim to allay fears and emphasize the government's proactive approach to skill development and maintaining stability in the face of workforce challenges.
