Celebration erupted in the Ahoada area of Rivers State over the weekend following reports of the death of a cult leader, Gift Okpara, also known as 2Baba. According to reports, 2Baba was allegedly shot dead during a combined security raid on the hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Rivers State on Saturday, February 17, 2024.
A senior police officer, speaking anonymously, revealed that 2Baba was hit multiple times during the operation. While there has been no official confirmation of his death yet, communities in Ahoada were reportedly celebrating the news of his alleged demise.
In a previous incident in September 2023, a divisional police officer, Bako Angbashim, was ambushed and captured by a cult group allegedly led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA. 2Baba and his gang reportedly took the DPO to the forest, where they killed and dismembered his body.
Police authorities have not yet confirmed the reported death of 2Baba at the time of this report.
