Late Luvumbo Goal Earns Cagliari Draw Against Napoli

Zito Luvumbo's dramatic equalizer in the 96th minute secured a 1-1 draw for Cagliari against Napoli. Victor Osimhen had put Napoli ahead in the second half, but Luvumbo's late strike stunned the defending champions.

The draw leaves Napoli in ninth place in Serie A, 11 points behind fourth-placed Bologna. For Cagliari, the point could prove crucial in their battle against relegation, bringing them level on points with Hellas Verona and Sassuolo above them.

Francesco Calzona's tenure as Napoli manager got off to a disappointing start, with his side unable to secure a win against Claudio Ranieri's Cagliari. Despite joining Napoli earlier in the week, Calzona was unable to provide an immediate improvement to their fortunes.

The first half was uneventful, with few chances for either side. Cagliari had a goal disallowed by VAR for offside, while Napoli struggled to create clear opportunities.

Osimhen broke the deadlock in the second half, scoring Napoli's first away league goal since November. However, Luvumbo's late goal ensured that Napoli left with only a point.

The result raises questions about Napoli's form and what changes are needed to return to their previous standards. With Calzona set to leave at the end of the season to coach Slovakia at the European Championships, Napoli will need to make significant changes in the summer.
