Peter Obi Pledges Transparency in Labour Party's Fund Management

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, has promised to ensure transparency in the management of funds collected during the campaign period.

During a press conference on Thursday, February 15, following a recent crisis involving the party's fundraising activities, Obi stated that the Labour Party would hire a reputable audit firm to audit the party's finances.

Obi emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and reconciliation of allegations and counter-allegations within the party. He stated, "I have told everybody that whatever we receive directly or indirectly will be accounted for transparently. For the party, I am a member of the party and they have chosen to say I am the leader."

He added, "What we need to do in the party as I have discussed with the leadership is that we must now appoint a reputable audit firm to audit and be able to deal with the accounting of the party."

Obi also appealed to support groups, individuals, and parties that received funding to support the campaign to be transparent in their utilization of the funds.
